Vote No?!? But it’s for the CHILDREN.

No it’s not. There is minimal correlation between effective education and money spent (see: Abbot Districts).

What would voting “no” do? Not much besides send a message to the board and the superintendent that we’re hitting the ceiling of what we will tolerate. They’ll go through the budget line by line and cut necessary maintenance projects and maybe the high school band…because that’s what they do. (For the record, I don’t want maintenance or the band cut either, but the political blackmail will occur regardless.) It would just be a couple of percent, but hey, it would help.

But it will also send them a signal that maybe they should be more careful when adding patronage jobs on the administrative side. And that is an important signal.
