My mom has elected to try a different chemo, so we’re hopeful that this one has a better result.

A lot has transpired in the past 48 hours. She switched facilities, switched doctors and switched chemotherapies.

Since heading to Florida, she started going to the Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa. It had a good reputation.

She hated it. Lots of waiting. Very overcrowded. Five minutes with a harried doctor. She got a prescription that she probably shouldn’t have been given due to her medical history.

And when my dad informed them that they were going to go elsewhere, their reaction: relief.

And this is probably the future of health care.

Luckily, she and my father found a different, more local cancer center. She had an hour consult with the doctor with a thorough review of her history. A change in treatment that the doctor up north agreed with.

She and my dad feel better about things. She’s getting the treatment she needs this morning and it’s looking more hopeful again.

But time will tell if she responds to this method since the other one was no longer working.
