This school year is already a challenge for families who have both spouses working.

First, they started school on a Tuesday after Labor Day (I don’t remember when or if that ever happened before), which meant that we had to race back from wherever we were so that the kids could be there ready to go on Tuesday morning.

Then 1 more day of school and boom – closed for two days.

Then comes the fiasco in November…the schools are closed for Election Day (I also don’t remember the last time that happened) then you go back for one day, then boom – closed for two days for the NJEA convention (which is at least one week earlier than usual this year).

So you have two two-day weeks where you can’t go anywhere or do anything much since they are chopped through the week,
